Citizen writes "Before the Lithgow Correctional Centre was established, this area was a farm whose machinery/workshop shed now houses Captured Craft.
The shop has been operating for manyyears. Their aim is to provide a service to the public and to travellers. It gives the crafty people in the Lithgow region a venue to display and sell their craft.
The range of items for sale at the shop includes Aboriginal Art, Pottery,
Woodwork, Leatherwork, hand made items of all kinds and much more.
Some of the works sold are created by the prisoners, which gives them an
opportunity to develop creativity, rather than expressing more negative aspects.
All profit from Captured Craft is donated to local charities. Recently $1000 was donated to Tanderra. The shop has also supported the Volunteer Rescue Service, and our local community radio station.
The shop is run by friendly volunteers, who are always happy to share a cuppa. Coaches are welcome by appointment.
Captured Craft is in the grounds of the Lithgow Correctional Centre.
